Northwest Week, a spring tradition at Northwest Missouri State University, is set to kick off on Monday, March 4, offering a variety of events, giveaways, and prizes for the university community. Organized by the Student Activities Council (SAC), the week-long celebration aims to bring students and faculty together through fun activities.

"The goal of Northwest Week is to bring students and faculty together to celebrate the community through a variety of fun events," said Maggie Wiedrich, SAC’s director of traditions and a freshman business administration major from Gretna, Nebraska.

Students are encouraged to participate in the events not only for a chance to win exciting prizes but also to make memories with friends and build new connections. Attendees will have the opportunity to win prizes sponsored by SAC, including a $100 Visa gift card, a $50 Walmart gift card, an iPad, Beats headphones, an air fryer, and a set of pots and pans.

The schedule for this year's Northwest Week includes a donut giveaway, a roller-skating event, a T-shirt giveaway, and food trucks. The donut giveaway will take place from 7:30 to 1:30 a.m. on the second floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union, where members of the Northwest community can enjoy a free donut while supplies last.

SAC will also be hosting a free roller-skating event open to the public from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Student Rec Center, providing skates for participants who must wear socks to join in the fun. Additionally, Northwest Week T-shirts will be given away from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on the second floor of the Student Union on a first-come, first-served basis.

To add some flavor to the festivities, a local Mexican restaurant, El Nopal, will be bringing a food truck to campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the J.W. Jones Student Union, offering free food for the Northwest community to enjoy.

For those interested in participating in Northwest Week activities or seeking more information, they can contact SAC at 660.562.1226. The event promises to provide a week of entertainment and community spirit for all involved.
